The objective of the game is to eliminate the opponent by taking out their command Fort: either by sending a unit to enter it, or by destroying it directly. Alternatively, destroying all of the opponent's units immediately wins the game.
At the start of every mission, each side is given control of their Fort and a small group of units. A host of unmanned turrets and vehicles are usually scattered about the map and sending a robot to these will allow the player to add them to their army. However, the assigned robot will remain in the captured vehicle or turret as a pilot or a gunner.
The game is significantly different from others of its type: For example, vehicle drivers can take damage from enemy fire, and if the driver is destroyed, the vehicle they were commandeering will be unmanned and can be captured by either side. At the time of its release, Z was also noted for being more complex, intense, and challenging compared to other games of its time, like the original Command & Conquer, where the gameplay usually boiled down to tankrushing AIs showing a lack of aggression. Further different robot types behaved differently. Units such as a sniper with a higher intelligence level are less likely to pop up from a tank because they are likely to be shot.
The game starts off with simple, symmetric levels where the CPU starts with roughly the same hardware as the player. As the game progresses, the levels become more complex, demanding more skill to control all units effectively, and the computer gains an advantage in starting units. For example, the CPU's fort usually has substantially more powerful guard turrets. The computer also gains more logistic advantages. Combat takes place on several planets, with 4 missions on each. In this game players take control of cars that take the shape of different animals. The game itself takes the role as a combat racing game as it features weapons to use against your opposition while racing, and the computers can do the same to you. The game has three modes: Grand Prix, Challenge and Time Attack.
The object of this game is to compete in the Grand Prix and to unlock new tracks and cars. The difficulty of each tournament is determined by which cup you choose to race for. The first cup you race for is the Carbon cup, and once you've beaten that you will unlock other cups that are based on elements like Crystal, Diamond and Zenith. Once you have won a tournament you will unlock a new cup to compete for new Tracks to race in, and the chance to challenge other cars to gain access to them for use in Grand Prix and VS mode.
While Racing you can acquire weapons located around the tracks to help you finish the race quicker or to slow down your opponents so you can overtake them. The combat system is different from many games, except for having health and being destroyed for a limited amount of time, if you or an enemy is hit by a weapon you will be temporarily be slowed downed which gives your opponent time to overtake you. There are some weapons that can be avoided by using your cars jump jets; all cars have jump jets and can be used to avoid certain weapons, however not all weapons can be avoided even with the Jump Jets.

The story of D follows Laura Harris as she goes to investigate a hospital after learning her father went on a mass murdering spree and barricaded himself inside. The hospital morphs into a castle upon her arrival, which she must explore to find her father. Since the storyline and graphics depicted violence unlike anything seen in a previous video game, Eno deliberately chose to bypass censorship. He submitted a "clean" version to pass publisher approval late, knowing that they would be require him to hand deliver the game to the manufacturer. Alice controls a lot like W.A.R.P.'s 1996 dark masterpiece, D. You play as Alice in the first-person, guiding her around small yet beautifully detailed environments from clickpoint to clickpoint. You progress more or less linearly through these levels and can get by all three discs knowing little to no Japanese (probably). There are a dozen or so puzzles including geometric piece-fitting puzzles called "Fortunes" (which double as your savepoints) as well as a "rock-taking game" but none of these are really that hard. More than anything, context is your biggest ally.
Because the game is only in Japanese, there may be some difficulty with oral clues. For instance, there is a point where you're flying a makeshift aircraft through a canyon. Your sidekick, a dinosaur child named Bock, tells you which way to turn at first. If you miss it, you can always just retry the other way. When in doubt, process of elimination works in this game, so don't let the Japanese intimidate you.

A Bug's Life is a platform game with different goals in each of 15 levels. Most of the goals deal
with getting the main character, Flik, to do events that match the storyline of
the movie. When the player finishes a level, that player can proceed to the
next level. Each new level starts with a new short animation from the movie. If
the player collects all of the bonus items in a level, that player gets a bonus
movie. Bonus items include 50 pieces of grain, four letters that spell F-L-I-K
(similar to the Nintendo 64 and PlayStation versions of Disney's
Tarzan) and
permanently finishing off each enemy bug. Floating telescopes guide the player through each level.
Throughout each level are a variety of seeds. Some seeds are partially
buried in the ground. These seeds can be transformed by Flik into a specific
kind of plant that can help him solve problems within the levels. Flik can
increase the number of plants he can grow by collecting colored tokens
scattered throughout the levels, with a token's color determining what type of
plant can be grown with it.
Obtainable throughout all the levels are a series of berries which can
be thrown at enemies to kill them. How long the enemies stay dead, once hit,
depends on the kind of berry Flik throws at it. The player starts out each
level with the red berry. There are only two ways to collect the super berry,
homing berry, mega homing berry, and gold berry: (1) by finding the actual
berry somewhere in the level or (2) collecting purple tokens, turning a seed
purple, cracking it open, and obtaining the resulting berry that way. One
purple token is required to obtain a super berry from seed, two purple tokens
to obtain a homing berry, three purple tokens to obtain a mega homing berry,
and four purple tokens to obtain a gold berry. Some levels do not contain
certain berries; the only way to get those berries is to collect enough purple
tokens to get that berry from a seed.
Flik's grain machine is present in certain levels. If the player finds
the machine and puts it on, it will destroy any enemy that comes into contact
with it. The machine is also handy in collecting grain at distant ranges. When
Flik is in the machine, he cannot jump.
